Manager, Human Resources
(7 – 10 Month Contract – starting March 1, 2012)

What you will do
  • Works with managers in the recruitment and selection of internal and external candidates, ensuring effective recruiting practices and hiring standards (including compliance with all employment laws) are met.
  • Partners with business unit leaders to understand their business objectives and challenges.
  • Interacts and builds relationships with employees to understand their issues and opportunities.
  • Responsible for completing HR related documentation and statistics, including maintenance of employee HR files.
  • Assists with compensation administration and provides benefits information to employees.
  • Assists managers and employees in the interpretation and application of corporate policies and procedures relating to Human Resources.
  • Participates in the development of new guidelines and procedures to support the organization; this includes researching, preparing and presenting recommendations.
  • Responsible for leading and coordinating the employee orientation program and various employee recognition programs.
  • Assists in the design of, and then leads various training and development initiatives.
  • Provides support and guidance to managers and employees in maintaining and promoting effective employee relations.
  • Communicates appropriate messages regarding HR strategies and initiatives.
  • Actively enhances our employee culture through committee and event work.
  • Other responsibilities as required.
What you will bring
  • Post-secondary degree in a business-related field specializing in Human Resource Management or equivalent; a CHRP designation would be an asset.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience and must have experience in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, compensation and training & development.
  • Knowledge of HR regulations, employment standards, human rights and legal requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
  • Ability to gain trust/confidence and influence others at various levels of the organization.
  • Well-developed problem-solving, decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate trends/consequences and create innovative strategies and flexible plans.
  • Strong aptitude for organization and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and changing priorities, while maintaining the highest levels of customer service.
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office Suite).
