What You Will Do

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Installs, monitors and tunes production Linux systems.
  • Sets up test servers for new applications.
  • Troubleshoots and solves systems and network problems.
  • Provides network solutions and recommendations regarding Anti-Virus, Email & Collaboration, Network Security, Migration Strategy & Disaster Recovery.
  • Creates proper and detailed documentation of all support and project related work.
  • Assists DBA with production Oracle database systems.
  • Provides data migration, transformation, backup & recovery, performance and tuning and other services to support production, development and QA environments.
  • Keeps abreast of new technologies, services and products through trade magazines, supplier-sponsored courses and trade shows.
What You Will Bring
  • 1-3 years on-the-job system administration of Linux systems on a scale of 15+ production servers. Must have extensive RHEL experience.
  • 1-3 years of database administration including at least 1 year with Oracle 9i and 10g.
  • Knowledge of PL/SQL and RMAN.
  • Direct responsibility for system level database tuning, performance management and capacity planning.
  • Expert knowledge of bash or PERL scripting languages.
  • Strong working knowledge of common Linux services such as mail, web services, cvs, MySQL, etc.
  • Strong networking (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPN), remote storage (SAN, NFS, SAMBA, etc), and application level skills are required.
  • Excellent organization and documentation skills with detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • The following skills/certifications are considered an asset: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Redhat RHCE or RHCT certification, VMware Enterprise solutions, HP Proliant Servers, Oracle 10G RAC Databases, Oracle Application Servers, VOIP, Asterisk experience.
