Java Developer — 6 Month Contract

We provide travel insurance to millions of travelers through our broker partners including BCAA and Allstate.

At TU Group’s IS department, we work with some of the latest and greatest technologies: Java/J2EE, Seam, Spring, Struts, SOA, AJAX, JPA, JBoss, Oracle, etc. As part of the team, you will play a key role in our agile development process and will have the opportunity to work with smart people who love solving complex customer requirements.

We are looking for 3 Java Developers to join our IS team for a 6 month contract, in our Richmond head office.

You are a Java Developer who is passionate about Quality and Clean Code, a great communicator, and someone who takes initiative to see projects through from start to finish. You have worked in agile environments, and understand the importance of team work, test-driven development and XP.

What You Will Do

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop, customize and implement bug-free J2EE applications in an agile environment.
  • Perform analysis of business requirements to define technical solutions.
  • Solve complex problems by leading analysis and development of technical solutions; guide other team members in problem solving activities.
  • Work with leading platforms and technologies including Seam, Hibernate, JSF, EJB and Oracle.
What You Will Bring
  • 5+ years of software development experience in Java/J2EE, with a strong knowledge and experience with Object-Oriented Design.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience with the following: SOA, Web Services, Java, EJB, Hibernate, Spring, RichFaces, JDBC, DHTML, JBoss and Ant.
  • Strong data modeling and SQL skills; experience working with Oracle.
  • Experience using Redhat BRMS and BPM would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written English), organizational and analytical skills.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
