User Experience Designer

Who You Are

You are an experienced UX designer who is is passionate about building clean web interfaces that support outstanding customer experiences. You have experience working in agile environments (Scrum, XP), and understand the importance of team work. Your experience includes building complex web-based applications.

What You Will Do

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage the design process and all other user experience efforts, from concept through to production.
  • Develop and champion the vision for all web sites and applications.
  • Conduct research and educate the team on the latest industry trends, design best practices, and customer demographics.
  • Produce or modify graphics and HTML to support our sites.
  • Ensure all front-end interfaces meet W3C and cross-browser compatibility standards.
  • Work with programmers to implement front-end designs and ensure they meet your vision.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders to understand their perspective, usability challenges, and functional requirements.
  • Conduct internal user research to understand how our web applications are used.
What You Will Bring
  • Exceptional communication (both verbal and written English) skills are critical.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate clearly with neophyte web users.
  • Ability to take an informal leadership role in a team environment to see your vision through to completion.
  • A diploma or degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience developing web sites, especially web application interfaces.
  • Experience conducting user testing sessions.
  • Outstanding portfolio showcasing your passion for creating beautiful, functional and usable web sites and/or applications.
  • Experience using HomeSite/DreamWeaver, Photoshop.
  • Strong knowledge of, and the ability to hand-code HTML/XHTML and CSS.
  • Knowledge and passion for web trends and best practices.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript.
  • Some knowledge of Java programming would be a great advantage.
  • Experience implementing sites using rich components.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check.
